According to Siddha medicine, the body consists of the five elements of the universe Earth, Water, Fire, Sky and Wind. Although there are various types of mudras to protect such a body, there are four powerful mudras that are said to be done for five minutes each for twenty minutes, which is good for the body.
Only the most important mudras are mentioned here. The benefits of mudras are also outlined for each one and together with meditation these are beneficial for healing and wellness of the body.
1. Gnana Mudra: The index finger and thumb should be joined together and the other three
fingers should be extended.The hands should be placed on the knuckles.The eyes should be closed
and the attention should be placed on the forehead. This should be done daily as a practice.
Benefits: This Chin Mudra also called as Jnana Mudra Improves
concentration and prevents insomnia.
2. Purna Gnana Mudra: This is the continuation of Gnana Mudra. One hand should be placed on
the knee and the other hand should be placed touching the chest. This can be done daily.
Benefits: Helps to focus attention and concentration.
3. Uyir Mudra: The little finger, ring finger and thumb should be joined together. Keep the
hands on the knees of the legs and focus on the forehead point.
Benefits: Boosts immunity, children should do this daily for
deriving the benefits.
4. Buddhi Mudra: The thumb and little fingers should be joined together. Keep the hands on
the knees of the legs and focus on the forehead point.
Benefits: Strengthens brain nerves.
