- Dr. Selva Shanmugham

The first thing is 'naal ozhukkam,' which is the daily chores given by the sage scientist. Many sage scientists are mentioned in ancient literature, providing daily Siddha ways to achieve better health.

The daily chores, starting with waking up. The ideal time for waking up is 04:30-05:00 am in the morning. The major benefits include normalizing the vital life force and enhancing the power of life force, which is very essential. It also enhances the activity of the five primordial elements present in our body and improves the functional quality of the fundamental tissues of our body.

Many recent researchers state that early morning waking up gives better mental health, improved concentration, and performance. It provides more time for exercise and yoga and helps in enjoying quiet time in the morning. You all are well aware of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, acetylcholine, norepinephrine, and dopamine – these are all neurotransmitters. Regulating the secretion of neurotransmitters is essential for preventing many diseases, providing relaxation, and reducing the risk of anxiety and depression. You can do simple things like waking up before sunrise and gradually moving to the waking up time of 04:30-05:00 am. Early morning waking up also improves the quality of sleep, ultimately leading to a stress-free life.

Next is tooth brushing. Many people use toothpaste, and it's important to note that many toothpaste brands are loaded with toxins, including sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, nicotine, artificial coloring agents, and artificial sweeteners. These toxins can have both immediate (acute) and long-term effects. Sodium lauryl sulfate, for example, can enter the main physical system through sublingual oral absorption, affecting hormonal synthesis and the immune system in the long term.

To avoid these issues, try using herbal tooth powder instead of toothpaste. You can prepare a simple herbal tooth powder using three ingredients: triphala chooranam, clove powder, and sea salt. These are readily available in the US market; you can buy them from Indian grocery stores or online markets. Use 100 grams of triphala with 5g of clove powder and the 5 gram of sea salt for making the tooth powder.

The beneficial materials present in this herbal powder enter through sublingual absorption and enhance the physiological function of our body. It not only enhances physiological function but also improves mental power and can act on the brain. It can act as antioxidants and detoxify, so use herbal-based powder instead of toxic toothpaste. So, early morning waking up, the second thing is using herbal tooth powder.

Tongue cleaning is essential, and you are well aware of the benefits of cleaning. Gently scrape the tongue six to seven times with a silver tongue cleaner; it prevents many diseases. Absorption, digestion, and assimilation may be enhanced by using tongue cleaning.

Oil pulling involves placing a teaspoon of virgin organic oil, such as sesame oil, into your mouth and then squeezing it around for up to 10 minutes before spitting it out. This practice produces many health benefits, removing toxic materials from our oral cavity, increasing absorption, and enhancing general health and well-being. So, immediately after cleaning the oral cavity in the early morning, drink an adequate quantity of water. You are well aware that 70% of our human body content is water, 75% of muscle is water, and 25% of bones also contain water, so don't start the day with a water deficit. Drink an adequate quantity of water in the early morning.

The next thing is the bowel cleansing method. Use an Indian type of toilet because fecal stagnation can produce many bad health conditions. Complete evacuation is a must for preventing many diseases, as fecal stagnation can cause simple intestinal disorders, constipation, bloating of the abdomen, reduced digestive fire of our gastrointestinal tract, and even contribute to allergy conditions and cancers. Recent medical research suggests that chronic fecal stagnation can cause colon cancer. Using Indian type toilets can prevent many diseases; it is one of the yogic postures in Indian-type squatting positions.

Here are some simple home remedies for constipation. Use edible castor oil (5ml) with lukewarm water early morning and evening. Also, use one teaspoon mixed with water. Soak one teaspoon of fenugreek in water overnight and drink the water the next day, chewing the fenugreek seeds. Include sprouted green gram, grape skin with the seed, ginger juice, palm sugar, green leafy vegetables, and fruits. These are all simple homemade preparations to prevent constipation without any side effects, habitual formation, or drug dependency and other complications associated with modern chemical medicines.

In ancient Siddha literature, three different preventive methods are clearly mentioned. The first one is bowel cleansing, the second one is emetic medication, and the third one is nasal application. We are focusing on the bowel cleansing method.

The bowel cleansing method can regulate the whole system. We use a simple preparation, a combination of castor oil, ginger juice, and honey. The ideal time for taking this bowel cleansing method is 4.30 to 6.00 am in the early morning. On the whole day, don't take any solid food items until afternoon; take rice porridge or buttermilk or honey. After 3 pm, you can take buttermilk with rice porridge or soup with rice porridge or some fruits. So, once every four months, you take this bowel cleansing method; it is a very, very important thing to remove toxins and prevent many diseases. Oil bath and bowel cleansing methods are very important for improving health.

We should avoid chemical or toxic material-based soaps and shampoo. Use herbal-based powder for cleansing the body and head. You can use gram flour or green gram powder with dried lemon skin powder as an alternative soap. Take an oil bath once a week; these are all important health parts of our body. Like toothpaste or toxic soaps, they contain triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, and antibacterial chemicals. Many alternatives to herbal body cleansing powders are mentioned in the ancient Siddha literature. This is one, that is the classifier that's green gram, nut grass, white turmeric, and white kaskus grass. This combination is called as these are all the ingredients. We can use this alternative to soap.

Allow it for at least 45 minutes and take a bath with hot water. Use shikakai or herbal-based powder for removing the oil from our body. Many health benefits are mentioned in ancient literature as well as in modern research journals. Oil removes excessive heat from the body; it removes the dusty particles and toxins present in our skin and hair, enhancing hair growth. It smoothes all the nerves in the body, improves their function, and rejuvenates the body. It removes free radicals from our body, improves concentration and memory power, and helps in having healthy and deep sleep. The main thing is that the removal of free radicals from our bodies is the important function of the important benefits from the oil pump. So, don't use chemical-based substances like shampoo, conditioner, body lotions, eyeliner, and eyebrow. Try to avoid all chemical-based things for the prevention of non-communicable diseases and also communicable infectious diseases. Use natural items.
